Original rice with the potential to surpass Kamenoo [Kameiki]

The reason why "Kame-no-o" is a suitable variety of sake rice is that
It is well known to alcohol lovers.
In particular, with the aim of cultivating traits more suited to sake brewing,
With Yoshihiro Shiga (brewing manager at Yonezuru Sake Brewery and member of the Sake Rice Research Association)
A variety jointly developed and cultivated by Yonezuru Sake Brewery Co., Ltd.
The name is "Kissui".

It all started when I was looking at the rice fields of "Kame no O" just before the rice harvest in 1987.
All of a sudden, I discovered two tall ears of rice.
And, just in case, I saved 150 grains of rice seeds from two tall ears.
By repeating selective cultivation from the following year, the yield increases year by year.
When we investigated the characteristics,

・The white core of the rice is larger than that of "Kame no O" or any other sake rice.
・It contains a lot of starch, which is considered a requirement for high-quality sake rice.
・Although it is taller than its American parent, Kame no O, it is less likely to fall over.

It had the strong characteristics of rice.
In 1990, its characteristics were confirmed,
In March 1991, the name was chosen based on the character "turtle" from the Japanese word "turtle tail" and the meaning of "exceptionally excellent."
"The word 'iki' was taken from 'Pure' and 'Collecting the best'"
An application for variety registration under the name "Kameiki" was submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

In April 1991, the Aomori Prefectural Agricultural Experiment Station and the Saitama Prefectural Agricultural Experiment Station
Cultivation tests were conducted, and on August 3, 1993, "Registration No. 3632
It was officially registered as a variety under the name "Kameiki."

On February 24, 1999, at the prefectural office
Director of the Yamagata Prefecture Biotechnology Development Promotion Foundation
Vice Governor Harada of Yamagata Prefecture gave a speech in the presence of agricultural representatives.
A certificate of commendation was awarded.
The person who succeeded in developing new varieties of rice individually after the war was
